Ao fornecer uma visão panorâmica da novíssima teoria social, este curso começa no ponto em que outros cursos de teoria contemporânea normalmente terminam, a saber, com os desenvolvimentos posteriores a Pierre Bourdieu, Jürgen Habermas e Michel Foucault. Ainda que cada aula se concentre em autores, escolas ou temas particulares, o curso em seu conjunto tem um propósito sistemático. Pela articulação entre as várias perspectivas, ele ambiciona explorar a lógica teórica da sociologia e refletir sobre os prospectos de uma teoria geral das sociedades contemporâneas. Perante à conjuntura, porém, não pode se excluir de antemão o fato de a tarefa mais urgente consistir em colocar a própria sociologia em crise.
A cada semana será entregue uma bibliografia mais extensa. A seleção de textos é só indicativa.
